Pregnancy after loss

Hope without forced positivity.

Being pregnant again after a loss can hold hope, fear and grief at once, sometimes within the same hour. Every scan and every twinge can carry what happened before. You might want to mark every day, or you might not want to think ahead at all. Either is okay, and neither says anything about how much you care.

What Mama Bloom offers in a pregnancy after loss

  • The pregnancy tools, used your way: a place to note the movements you feel, a contraction timer, a due-date estimate and a hospital checklist. If your baby is moving less than usual, the movements stop or change, or you’re worried, call your midwife or maternity unit straight away, even at night. Don’t wait, and don’t use an app to decide.
  • A memorial, if you want one, kept alongside this pregnancy on your iPhone.
  • Meditations that make room for grief during this pregnancy, and others for sleepless nights and a single quiet minute.
  • Reading for this stage, including a guide to the anxiety nobody prepares you for, and a question list to take to your appointments.
  • Notes for the person beside you in the Partner Hub, such as why “this time will be different” doesn’t help.
  • Mama Bloom AI, day or night, for the thoughts you’re not ready to say out loud. It’s AI and can be wrong, and it doesn’t give medical advice.

Most of this is free. The grief meditations, the question list and the Partner Hub are part of Mama Bloom+, an optional membership.

How Mama Bloom takes care with this stage

In Mama Bloom, pregnancy after loss is its own stage, not an ordinary pregnancy with a footnote. The words are quieter where it matters. The due-date tool calls its answer “a pencilled planning estimate, with no expectations attached”. The bonding page says: “After loss, a little distance can be protective. You never have to push past it.” In this stage, Mama Bloom doesn’t bring up Mama Bloom+ on its own.

If the week card on your Home is too much, there’s a quiet link under it, “Something has changed for me”. There you can stop showing anything about your stage, without deleting anything, and bring it back whenever you like. It’s also where you can tell Mama Bloom if something has changed.

Guides, if you want them

Your entries stay on your iPhone, encrypted and left out of backups, so a new iPhone won’t have them. Mama Bloom is a wellness companion, not medical care, and it never replaces your midwife or doctor.

Take only what helps

There’s nothing to complete here. If a quiet place would help, choose “After Loss” in the app, then “I’m pregnant again after loss”.
