Choosing an app for this part of your life shouldn’t feel like homework. Here’s Mama Bloom next to five apps you may already know. Everything in the table comes from what each developer says on its own store pages and website.
What is Mama Bloom?
Mama Bloom is a calm wellness companion for iPhone, for the stage you’re in: trying to conceive, pregnancy, after a pregnancy loss, pregnancy after loss, postpartum, early motherhood or perimenopause. You choose your stage, or leave that open for now, and you can change it whenever you like.
- Every day: a journal, mood check-ins, gentle trackers for your stage and a Reading Room to browse.
- To listen: guided meditations and sleep stories in English and German, read by a synthesised voice.
- To talk: an optional AI companion. It doesn’t see what you’ve saved in the app until you turn that on.
- Your entries: encrypted on your iPhone and left out of device and iCloud backups.
- Cost: free to download, with an optional subscription, Mama Bloom+.

Each of these apps has its own strengths. All five have an Android version and more languages than Mama Bloom. Four have a community or forum. If one of them feels right for you, that’s a good outcome too.
Mama Bloom may not be for you if…
- you use an Android phone. Mama Bloom is made for iPhone and needs iOS 26 or later.
- you’d like to talk with other mothers. There’s no community or forum in Mama Bloom.
- you want your entries on more than one device, or on a new iPhone. They stay on the iPhone you wrote them on. A new iPhone doesn’t have them, even one set up from a backup.
- you’d like the app in a language other than English or German.
- you need medical advice or a diagnosis. Mama Bloom is wellness support, not medical care.
Questions
Is Mama Bloom a medical app?
No. Mama Bloom is a wellness companion. It isn’t a medical device, a diagnostic service, a therapist or an emergency service, and it never replaces your doctor, midwife or mental-health professional. If you’re worried about your health or your baby’s, please talk to them. If you or someone else may be in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services.
Where are my entries stored?
On your iPhone. Your entries are encrypted there and left out of device and iCloud backups, and Mama Bloom doesn’t keep a central database of your entries. You can save a copy as a file (Profile → “Save a copy of my records”), but Mama Bloom can’t load it back in. When you talk to the companion, what you send goes to our AI provider, Anthropic, so the companion can answer you. Anthropic may keep it for up to 30 days and doesn’t use it to train models. Our Privacy Policy has the details.
How did you check the other apps?
On 24 September 2026 we read each app’s App Store page in the US and German stores and its Google Play page. Where the store pages left a feature open, we also read Clue’s and Peanut’s privacy policies. A ✓ means the developer lists the feature there. A dash means we didn’t find it, and the app may still offer it. Privacy labels and the “Contains Advertising” note are each developer’s own declaration; Apple says it hasn’t verified them. Apps change: if something here is out of date, write to hello@mamabloom.app and we’ll correct it.
