The input is an explicit start
The period model begins with dates classified as first days of periods. Continuing flow, spotting, pregnancy bleeding, postpartum recovery bleeding and other bleeding contexts are not silently converted into period starts.
Intervals form a distribution
Complete intervals between recorded starts contribute to a weighted distribution. Recent observations receive appropriate emphasis, while implausibly short intervals remain visible in the record but are excluded from ordinary cycle training.
The answer is a range
Mama Bloom presents a most-likely range and, when supported, a wider possible range. Greater variation widens the presentation instead of being hidden behind a single date. Early records remain deliberately broad.
Context creates a boundary
Pregnancy, postpartum and hormonal-contraception contexts pause or reset ordinary period-range interpretation and prevent observations from an earlier context being silently reused as if nothing changed.
Body observations stay observations
LH results, temperature, cervical mucus and symptoms can be recorded as dated observations with their source preserved. Mama Bloom stores and displays them exactly as logged. They are never aligned, scored or combined into a fertility status, fertile-window or ovulation estimate, conception recommendation, pregnancy conclusion or contraception-safe day, and they never alter the period forecast. The public app does not show fertile-window or ovulation estimates.
Review and revision
The evidence receipt shows the period starts and intervals used, exclusions, forecast range and method version. Corrections revise future output without hiding the original provenance. Method changes should increment the disclosed version and be re-tested before release.
Evidence boundary and review status
This disclosure describes an engineering method for a personal wellness tracker. Mama Bloom has engineering tests but has not been independently clinically validated, and no medical or accuracy- superiority claim is made. It does not confirm ovulation and is not a contraception method. Mama Bloom is offered only as a personal wellness journal; its intended purpose and limits are set out on the health-use limits page.
